Centred in this project is the feminist mantra that the personal is political. This project documents stories from African women around their experiences of life in the times of the first year of the pandemic – in a time of reckoning, where the consequences of economic policies that don’t centre life were brought to unbearable light. These letters are from African women at different geographies, occupations, monies and life experiences.

It is administratively and fiduciarily housed by the Tax Justice Network (Africa). The Nawi – Afrifem Macroeconomics Collective  is building a community in Africa of individuals and organisations working on influencing, analysing, deconstructing and reconstructing macroeconomic policies, narratives and understanding of the same through an intersectional Pan African feminist lens.
