Deborah Odu OBOR is a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, Nigeria. She holds a Bachelors of Science (B.Sc.), from Bowen University Iwo; a Masters of Science (M.Sc.) and a Doctorate degree (PhD) both from the University of Ibadan in Sociology. Her research focus on gender and women studies, sociology of work and organisation, sociology of consumer/consumption behaviour, labour migration, change management and development, poverty, social inclusion and displacement with special interest in gender relations and policy.

She joined the services of Bowen University as a Sociology tutor in 2013. In 2015 she joined the Department of Sociology where she lectures various courses, mentors and supervises undergraduate students. She is passionate about teaching and research with a unique ability to impart knowledge to her students, using contemporary teaching and research aids/techniques most appropriate. She combines this with real life case studies or experience that enhance creative learning and stimulate the curiosity of her students.

She has published in various peer review journals of national and international repute. In 2017, she was appointed a junior research fellow in the French Institute for Research in Africa (IFRA-Nigeria) where she participated in several trainings. As a young researcher and academic, she has contributed to the body of knowledge in the areas of gender relations and women studies, social policy, virtual sociology, consumer/consumption behaviour and social network.
