Sumak kawsay beyond Latin America: a proposal for debate and action in South Africa

This paper explores the concept of sumak kawsay (buen vivir in Spanish)
which can be taken as an approach to the (re)organisation of society
-including the economy- in which the central category of analysis is life.
The fundamental social goal is harmony: between humans and nature,
and between individuals and communities, with collective satisfaction of basic needs.
